Our Trip Adventure!

Maggie and I finally decided to carry out our trip together to Massachusetts, however, there were still a lot of uncertain problems while we were planning our trip. There were three spots we MUST visit, Eric Carle Museum, Norman Rockwell Museum and Williams College. This journey would be carried out very easily if we drove by our own, but, the problem was that both of us had no guts to drive in the States. Therefore, the only way to make our trip come true would be taking the public transportation.

What kind of transportation could we take? Unfortunately, Amtrak (US train) did not have service to those towns we are going to :(
How small and urban towns we were going?? The only and one public transportation we could take was coach/bus--Greyhoud, Peterpan and Bonanza.

And here is the route we completed our trip to those towns in Massachusetts: NYC --Amherst (visit Eric Carle Museum) --Stockbridge (visit Norman Rockwell Museum) --Williamstown (visit Williams College).

There was no problem at all for us to get to Eric Carle Museum (because there was a bus stop nearby the museum) , however, we did have difficulty to get to Amherst downtown from Eric Carle Museum ( we needed to get to Amherst downtown to take bus). As I had mentioned in my previous writing that we got a free ride by 2 kind ladies which made our trip keep on going.

We arrived at Stockbridge around 5.30 pm and the hotel we stayed with, Red Lion Inn, which was established in 1773. A very English and elegant hotel!! That night, we were invited to sing along with a group of choir. All I could say here is that those people we met were far too nice to us.

The next day, we wert to visit Norman Rockwell Museum by taking the local bus successfully. We learned so much about Mr. Rockwell's paintings through one of the guides in the museum. She told us that where Mr.Rockwell used to rent the house on the main street at Stockbridge and how he had asked the landloud to make a bigger window for him to get more sunlight. She also showed us where Mr.Rockwell's house was--which is very close by Red Lion Inn. Therefore, we planned to have a look at Mr. Rockwell's house when we returned to the hotel.

However, God was not with us again. We had asked the reception in the museum to make a bus request for us (You need to make a request then the bus would stop in front of the museum) almost 1 hour before time scheduled. We were waiting for the bus to pick us up and then we could catch the 1350 bus to Williamstown. Guess what happened?

Oh...YES!! We were so lucky that the bus was broken on its way and therefore, of course, we missed our next bus to Williamstown. The amazing thing was that the local bus company felt sorry to us and decided to ask someone to pick us up and give us a free ride to Pittsfield (the biggest town around that area, Berkshire). But that's not end of the story yet. Our destination was Williamstown, therefore, we changed another local buses from Pittsfield to Williamstown FOR FREE. Even we earned the free ride from Stockbridge to Williamstown, we spent more time in taking buses--which made us have less time to walk around Williams College.

We arrived at Williams College around 1730 and we went to the campus for dinner and have a look at the night time of the campus. We were wondering why there were still a lot students around campus during the vacation. We saw quite a few Asian students and started to wonder whether they came here for Homeboy...haha....I think that would only apply to me :P

We walked around the Williams College the next day and paid a visit to Clark Art Institute. I would like to thank Maggie here for company me to those places I had longed for a long time. I had a great time and learned so much from this trip.

We left Williamstown at 1600 and arrived NYC at 2035 on 4th of January, 2005. We had 3 very quite days since the mobile phone could not work at all at those towns. It is not to bad to relax completely with no disturbance. There are more towns around Berkshire and I hope that I will have another longer time to explore and enjoy my time there.
