Windsor Castle and Eton College

Windsor Castle. Posted by Hello

Windsor Castle and Eton College are located not too far away from London. It is quite easy to get to there by coach, bus or train. That was my second time to both Windsor castle and Eton college last week. I still remembered the first time I went there was summer of 1999 and I went there with Grace and my Paddington bear :) This time, I went with Kitty and my terrible Hay Fever :(

There are some changes in the past years around towns of Windsor and Eton. Windsor castle is famous for its official residence of The Royal Family. The Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world and the oldest in continuous occupation. The imposing towers and battlements of the Castle loom large from every approach to the town, creating one of the world's most spectacular skylines. No other royal residence has played such an important role in the nation's history.

Eton College is a secondary school for boys aged 13 to enter, however, the Queen was the only female student entered Eton College in the past. Eton College was founded in 1440 by King Henry VI. The College originally had 70 King's Scholars or‘Collegers’ who lived in the College and were educated free, and a small number of ‘Oppidans’ who lived in the town of Eton and paid for their education. The most people know about Eton College because of princes William and Harry, however, both of them left Eton already.

I quite like the whole environment of towns of Windsor and Eton, as soon as you cross the windsor-eton bridge, you will reach the other town. It is nice to sit by the riverside and enjoy the rare sunshine in the UK there. I was thinking that how annoying that would be as residents, students or even the royal family members there because hundreds of tourists visit these two towns everyday.

Are you a fan of Prince William or Harry? Then you may want to take a look where they studied before and where they sometimes stay in Windsor. Pay a visit to Windsor and Eton!! I would say there are great towns to visit no matter you are keen on royal family or not.
